PRE-ORDERS – drab ‘digging a hole to fill a hole’

The debut EP from drab, titled digging a hole to fill a holeis now available for pre-order ahead of the May 10, 2019 release date. You can watch the music video for the 1st single from the EP below, titled loveliness, which is available for immediate download when you pre-order the EP. You can also stream the new single on Spotify.

_____________________________________________________________

For the Boston-based artist Andrew G Nault, drab started out as more of a concept; broad strokes of a particular mood to convey sonically. “There’s beauty in the less favorable moments in life,” explains Nault. “Musically my ear has always leaned in that direction. Chalk it up to a small brush with death at a young age, I guess.” Indeed, there is much to be learned from life’s darker moments, and plenty of layers to shed along the way to do so. This is the context that drab operates in. Layered compositions of haze, feel, and movement that shift and progress with subtlety.

Though a newcomer to electronic music production, Nault is a long time student of music in general. With well over a decade of experience as a producer, engineer, and musician, there’s not much he hasn’t tried. Stylistically unafraid, his credits stretch across a multitude of genres (founder of Lesser Glow on Pelagic Records, live drummer for Arms and Sleepers). From Folk to Doom to R&B and more, each venture has left a lasting impression on the next. “drab is another chance for me to challenge myself and explore… a melting pot to throw all of these styles and experiences into and see what comes out,” writes Nault. With the upcoming debut EP, Nault again sets his wheels in motion, continuing to dive deeper into his unconventional combination of influences and an ear for the bittersweet.

digging a hole to fill a hole officially releases on May 10, 2019 via Future Archive Recordings.

PRE-ORDERS – NATASHA KMETO ‘VERSE/VERSUS’

The new EP from Natasha Kmeto, titled Verse/Versusis now available for pre-order ahead of the April 12, 2019 release date. You can listen to a track from the EP below, titled Spoken Silence, and available for immediate download when you pre-order the EP.

_____________________________________________________________

Verse/Versus is Natasha Kmeto‘s first release in over 2 years. The EP explores themes of longing, desire, and the gray area of a romance felt but unexpressed. This is the first time Natasha has explored less synthesized instrumentation in her music, adding layers of bass guitar and saxophone to accent the influence of 80s post-punk. Verse/Versus is an EP made for the bedroom.

“The main moment of inspiration for this EP came when I was feeling the first flushes of lust, for someone totally inappropriate. I wanted to describe and encapsulate those feelings of unspoken desire that I’ve felt my whole life. The setting was very much me listening to Cocteau Twins in my teenage bedroom alone, wishing she was there with me.” – Natasha Kmeto

Verse/Versus officially releases on April 12, 2019 via Future Archive Recordings.

Track Listing:

01. Eyes
02. Count to 5
03. Spoken Silence (available for immediate download w/ album pre-orders)
04. Versus
